Miles of Smiles was created in 2004 by qualified professional photographer Darren Miles.
Darren picked up his first film SLR camera at the age of 15 after becoming fascinated with the images his father was making, shooting weddings for family and friends.
After leaving school and working as a prototype engineering model-maker designing toys and games, the hobby of photography remained one of Darren's primary interests.
To further his knowledge and education Darren completed his City & Guilds Certificate in Photography, learning how to light, process and print black and white photographs, plus learning a little about the history of photography.
Following a background in design and engineering Darren decided that his creative talents were not being exercised to their full potential so decided to leave a 10 year position in engineering and create Miles of Smiles.
Known as a bit of a perfectionist, Darren continually strives to develop his talents and regularly attends photographic exhibitions, seminars and further training with respected professionals in order to remain current and in-tune with today's photographic trends.
Today, Darren is based in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire where he lives with his loving partner Gaynor and their beautiful daughter Emily Grace.
Darren prefers to shoot portraits in relaxed, natural surroundings, allowing his subjects' personalities to shine, making for some truly stunning images.
Weddings are similarly photographed in an unobtrusive, documentry style capturing all of the treasured memories, passion and emotion of the bride and groom and their guests on each wedding day.
